I have been on a spiritual path to awakening, as I am sure many of you are who have come to read my blog. I believe that I am Divinely guided, and can provide information that will be beneficial for some, and entertaining for others. I live my life with passion and integrity; one of my passions is doing research in the area of Wellbeing; Mind, Body and Spirit. This encompasses many topics. Through out the years, I have obtained a great deal of information on topics regarding Mind, Body and Spirit; however, when I was younger, I had no idea as to why I was gaining this knowledge or even what to do with it. It was not until I started paying attention to family, friends, and acquaintances, who were grateful, as well, as benefited from this information that I would so freely give. At times I am sure I was a little over bearing. Update: I am back. I have been through some fun, and challenging years, and gained new knowledge not only of myself, but health and spirit as well. So, my blog will be sharing a collection of eclectic fun, inspiring, joyful tidbits of information. Thank you in advance for reading, and please leave a comment. In Love and Light. COULD YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW...BE SUFFERING NEEDLESSLY?

Greetings from Joyful Energy,

DISCLAIMER: This post is not intended to provide medical advice. All content, including text, and images, are for informational purposes only. My blog is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay in seeking it, because of something you have read in my blog.

Dear Readers,

I met someone this past weekend, that suffers from constant headaches, this is what prompted this post.

You too, may suffer needless symptoms, possibly due to a deficiency in a very important mineral....MAGNESIUM

The following comes from Adelle Davis' writings:

magnesium, protects your nerves as much as does calcium. Persons only slightly deficient in magnesium become irritable, high-strung, sensitive to noise, ,hyper excitable apprehensive, and belligerent."

In the book, "The Magnesium Factor", Dr Mildred S Seelig, and her co authors, indicate...How One Simple Nutrient Can Prevent, Treat, and Reverse Some Chronic Conditions...high blood pressure, heart disease and others...

As I have been aware for many years, that a deficiency in MAGNESIUM can bring on Migraine, Tension
headaches, muscle spasms, and a whole host of other symptoms; it wasn't until I was doing research for this post, that I learned there is a correlation between MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY AND EPILEPSY,

For now; I would like to focus on just a few of the more common symptoms, and hope that you will do your own research, into other symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency.

I am concerned that you or someone you know, suffer from some of the following needless symptoms.

SYMPTOMS

1. Headaches, be it Migraine, Tension, or even Cluster Headaches
2. Restless leg syndrome
3. Insomnia
4. Seizures
5. Hypertension...high blood pressure
and a whole host of others...

MAGNESIUM ROBBERS

1. Number one by far....SUGAR
2. Alcohol...cause large urinary magnesium losses
3. To many calcium rich foods..causes an imbalance of magnesium.
4. Hard Water

FOODS THAT PROVIDE MAGNESIUM

1.  green Leafy Vegetables...
2.  artichoke spinach, any type of beans (black, kidney, navy, pinto etc), tomatoes, broccoli, peas, cornmeal, lentils, okra, seeds (pumpkin, squash), soybeans, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
3. Grains and grain products like barley, oat bran, buckwheat and wheat flour are rich sources of magnesium. It is to be noted that well-refined grains contain less amount of magnesium in comparison to unrefined, whole grains. Magnesium is lost in the refining process.
4. fruits such as bananas and figs, provide magnesium, as well as nuts, such as cashews, almonds, pine nuts .
5. Legumes...it is important to eat a wide variety
6. Fish...such as halibut, and tuna provide magnesium

I suggest that you always try to get your nutrients from your foods first, but if that is not enough, get with your health care provider, to find the right amount of supplement.

This is just a tidbit of information that is out there...it is up to you to do the rest.

In closing, I ask that, when it comes to you and your families health...please be PRO- ACTIVE

...YOU TOO CAN HAVE JOYFUL ENERGY, WHEN YOU PROVIDE YOUR BODY AND MIND WITH  WHAT IT NEEDS.

Thanks for reading,

HOW DO YOU COPE???

Greetings from Joyful Energy,

Dear Readers,

Stuff it down, and it will go away…I think not!

It appears that eating, unhealthy foods when lonely, bored, stressed, or anxious, has become the all American pass-time to dealing with emotions; consequently, we are becoming a very fat unhealthy nation, and our children are following in our footsteps.

The consumption of unhealthy toxic ingredients in the things we consume is a prime contributor to the decline of our health; therefore, we are dealing with not only, obesity, but numerous diseases, as well, and not to say what it is doing to our children...

I just read somewhere that the life expectancy of women has gone down, due to obesity and disease.

In researching for this post, as well as being aware of the effects of MSG, and ASPARTAME, I have come across some alarming information, that I believe is vital  for your health.  Look for future posts on MSG, ASPARTAME, as well as other harmful chemicals.

Along with MSG, and ASPARTAME another ingredient that I suggest you avoid is High Fructose Corn Syrup

The follow comments come from Dr Mercola:

"We could make radically outrageous improvements in our health as a culture if we just simply stopped everyone from drinking soda".

"I am HIGHLY confident that the health improvement would be FAR more profound if everyone stopped smoking because elevated insulin levels are the foundation of nearly every chronic disease known to man, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, aging, arthritis, osteoporosis, you name it, and you will find elevated insulin levels as a primary factor".

"The evidence of an increase in triglyceride levels and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels is just the latest among countless findings pointing to the dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)."

Thank you Dr Mercola!

You see the problem with eating to cope with emotions, is not so much that you are eating, but it is what and how much you eating. I ask that you become more cognizant of what you are consuming on a daily basis. THINK... Is what I am about to put in my mouth, going to make me feel better, or worse in the long run?

There are many other ingredients that I believe are harming us; Look for these in future blogs.

The following are some suggestions; I would like you to try in place of eating unhealthy comfort foods to cope with uncomfortable emotions.

First and foremost, I think it is very important to get quiet and center yourself; by that I mean Pray or meditate, which ever works for you..trust the answers are within.

When you feel like you need to stuff those feelings, go for a walk, or run, or dance, as I do.
You might even trying belting out a few words, that will actually change your thought pattern, and make you feel happy.

Feeling, lonely…call a friend…they will care…they are not called friends for nothing..
If you feel like you just have to eat something sweet; try reaching for a healthy alternative.

If something crunchy is what you crave, then have a green salad, it is chock full of B calming vitamins, or nuts for the calming mineral magnesium.
I cannot began to tell you...how important it is to get your sleep...something, I need to do more of...

If you can't take a real vacation; take a virtual one. Our mind doesn't know the difference.

Breathing, yes...breath is so important, to deep breathe...think of what is bothering you, be aware of it...breathe through it and let it go. Breathe in through your nostrils...hold and blow out your mouth. There is so much to breathing, and different kinds of breath...that might be another blog. lol

Last but not least. I want you to know that you are never alone...you always have guidance....

Believe me; it is no picnic, to make change, but in the long run…it is well worth it, not only for your mind and body, but your spirit, as well, but above all LOVE YOURSELF!

In closing, may you develop new and constructive ways to cope with your emotions, and be GRATEFUL!
Thank you for reading

MAKINGS OF A HAPPY HEART

Greetings from Joyful Energy,

Dear Readers,
I can tell you that exercise, proper nutrition, and meditation are all good for a healthy heart, however, from my perspective on an energy level...what I feel is most important is to have love for yourself and othersexperience joy and laughter on a daily basis and

Connect with others as well as be true to yourself, and find constructive ways to handle anger.

I feel the heart is the corner  stone of our being, not only on physical level, but on a spiritual one as well. It pumps an oxygenated life force through our veins that keeps us living and loving strong.

Chakras,  (energy centers of the body) the forth chakra is related to the heart;  meditating on, or wearing the color green opens your heart for love.

EAT FOR YOUR HEALTHY HEART

Research has shown that the following supplements are essential to good heart health:

Flaxseed Oil; To prevent Artery Clogging Clots
Apple Cider Vinegar; may erode arterial Plaque
B-COMPLEX ; Defense against Homocysteine (high levels can be toxic to coronary arteries)
Vitamin E (fights free radicals)
MAGNESIUM (helps reverse heart disease)
CO Q10 (helps prevent heart disease) (helps to stop oxidation of LDL cholesterol)

EXERCISE
We have all heard that aerobic exercise is good for the heart, but QIGONG...brings healing energy to your heart,

as well, as YOGA; (chest expansion pose) can help improve circulation.

Mind a broken heart with Yoga

MEDITATION Science indicates that meditation is not only good for the heart, but the soul, as well.       (Silence is golden)

Last, but not least...LAUGHTER...LAUGH AS EASY AS A CHILD!

WHAT IS STRESS?

Greetings from Joyful Energy,

Dear Readers,

Thank you for your patience, as I am a couple days late on my post. Since being so grateful for the beautiful weather that we were all blessed with, this past Memorial Weekend, I spent most of my stress free time outside.

The events of the last two days, got me to thinking; what exactly is stress? Is stress something that can be measured? It seems like anymore, you here so many people, claim; I am so stressed, this stresses me, that stresses me, they stress me, he stresses me, she stress me, and on, and on….The biochemical changes from stress can be measured; however, it depends on each individual’s response.

I hope to shed a little light on the subject of stress:
The “fight or flight” response was necessary for our ancestors, when faced with danger, they needed to have the energy to fight or flee. We too, today need that same response, not for slaying dragons so much, but for life threatening situations, running a race, or even meeting a deadline.

The problem arises, when there is more stressful times than stress free, like not taking time for ourselves, or thinking that we have to be in control of everything.

Without getting too technical, there are chemicals released by the body, such as adrenalin, noradrenalin, and cortisol in response to a stressful situation. You may have heard of adrenalin junkies, these are people that thrive on stress, because of a feeling of being high, as well as, energetic. I think they are called thrill seekers.

It is when we don’t utilize these chemicals, that they can become detrimental to our wellbeing.
When these chemicals are released, due to a stressful situation, it is important to utilize them as soon as possible. If you are in a traffic jam, try beating the seat, or deep breathing. I sing…can’t carry a tune, but no one hears me.

I am sure that you are all aware of what stresses you, but I would like to offer some suggestions to counter act the stress response:

COLORS

With regards to color, the colors blue, and green tend to be calming, experiments have shown blue light can lead to a lowering of blood pressure, whereas red light can cause blood pressure to rise.

While I am not recommending anything, I am asking you to research these for yourself. There are known herbs, vitamins, and minerals that are used for stress relief.

HERBS
Lavender, Chamomile
, Tarragon, Sage, Rosemary, St John’s Wort , and I am sure there are many more, but my favorite is Holly Basil (has been used in Ayurveda for many years, and is known to lower cortisol, as well as blood sugar).. I put the extract in my water sometimes.

VITAMINS AND MINERALS

There are also vitamins and minerals that help us handle stress and anxiety in our lives, some of them our: Vitamin A, C, E, and B-complex, as well as, the minerals; Calcium, Potassium and, Magnesium, which plays many roles in the body. I once read that Magnesium also blocks the effects of excessive adrenalin. It is best to get these Vitamins and minerals from your foods first, and then supplement if you and your physician feel it necessary.

WATER

Who can forget water, it is so vital to our wellbeing, and not putting the body under undo stress; when we have not consumed enough water, our body will talk to us with, headaches, backaches, joint pain and stiffness, as well as low concentration, and many other symptoms. Try putting a little lemon or cucumber in your water. If you drink more water, you are less likely to drink unhealthy drinks.

DIET

A stress free diet is important to your health and wellbeing, which would include things like, raw or steamed vegetables, fresh or dried fruit with plain yogurt(I actually like “Stoneyfield organic Greek yogurt), lean meats and fish, as well as, daily fiber, from whole grains, beans and bread (I prefer EZEKIEL Bread, no flour or refined sugar, only sprouts.)

POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND SELF TALK

As well as, your diet, your thoughts and attitude play a major role in response to stress. It is vital to always be aware of your self-talk; with negative self-talk, your body responds negatively… releasing unhealthy chemicals; with positive self-talk and thoughts, your body responds in kind.

Try this: When you are aware of a negative thought or making a negative comment, turn it around to a positive thought or comment. When you are focusing on what is good and right, you will release those feel good chemicals, and who doesn’t want to feel good? Our subconscious is always giving us what it thinks we want, it does not judge whether if it is good or bad, or right, or wrong; it just wants to please us.

BREATH

Breathing is also important in a stressful situation, and to life itself. The right breathing technique can create calm; Take a deep cleansing breath through your nose, filling first the abdomen and then the lungs, and release slowly through the mouth.

EXERCISE

Any form of exercise is good, as long as not overdone. Practices such as Yoga, and Tai Chi, focus on the breath; therefore, is very beneficial in response to stress. Any form of aerobic exercise, such as dance…my favorite, is great for releasing energy, which built up energy, can cause anxiety.

LAUGHTER

Last but not least, one of the best stress relievers is laughter, it can make all the difference in the world. So here are a few things that I found funny; Change can be stressful, and is inevitable except from a vending machine; I used to have an open mind, but my brains keep falling out; God is a comedian, playing to an audience too afraid to laugh; and A glow worm is never glum, because, how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out of your bum?

In closing, we all encounter stressful situations and people at times, but it is in our positive response to stress that will make a difference in our health, happiness and our lives.

May you always find a reason to laugh, and smile every day, and live your life with ease.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS...

Greetings again from Joyful Energy,

Dear Readers,

Let me first say, that my goal  for now is to create a weekly post, and so all week long, I have wondered what would the next post be; Being Grateful, kept popping up in my head.

A little bit about me; I am always so grateful even for the smallest things in my life.

I woke up this morning, believing it would be a beautiful day, and since I have been wanting to go to the zoo for a long time now, I knew that would be my plan. I packed my peanuts, Fiji water, and a rain coat (just in case) and I was off to see the zoo babies. I was so excited!

When I arrived at the zoo's parking lot, it appeared that there was no place to park, but in the next instant, a car left, leaving a spot opened for me. I thought…thank you…I am so blessed!

On my way into the zoo. I made conversation with a pleasant family of seven, Dad, pregnant mom, and five children. Dad stated, “We come to the zoo quite often….the children love it.”  He buys a membership, and they can go every day if they want to. I asked, “Do you know where. I could get my ticket?” They were so kind and guided me in the right direction. I told them, “thank you very much!”

I was headed off to by my ticket, when pregnant mom called out to me. She said, “We are able to have one guest; my oldest daughter usually brings a friend, but she did not come this time.” “We would like you to be out guest.”

Let me tell you…talk about being grateful, I was! I told them how much that I appreciated it. The children witnessed the kindness of their parents and they treated me like one of the family. It was an amazing experience. I am very blessed! I think their good deed made them feel as good as I felt.

The day just got better, the rain held off, and I was able to see the zoo babies. I waited in line to see the baby Giraffe. She was seven weeks old with a cast on her right rear leg. They found her on Thursday morning, not sure how the injury occurred. Daddy Giraffe, came right up so I could take his picture…again another blessing. It had been a wonderful site seeing day at the zoo...one I won't long forget, and I give THANKS!

When I was leaving, it began to rain; I was grateful that I had my rain coat with me.

This day was my confirmation that my post would be about, “BEING GRATEFUL”

I ask that you do the following things, and see how your life changes.

Start a GRATEFUL JOURNAL:

At the end of every day, focus on all reasons to give THANKS; there are so many things…a smile from a stranger… laughter of a child… the sunshine, the breath you take... I could go on and on. When you do this, there is no room to be ungrateful...

Each time a parking spot opens for you…pay attention, and say thank you!

Even in what YOU feel is your darkest moment, there is always something to be thankful for….”Every cloud has a silver lining”; "When one door closes, there will always be another open door." Give THANKS!

BEING GRATEFUL, will not only keep you Healthy, but make you Happy, as well...

In closing, I would like to thank you …for reading my blog.

….May you be aware of your many blessing….

ALL WE NEED IS:

Greetings from Joyful Energy,

I have pondered for the last week as to what I wanted my first topic to be; I wanted it to be important and to ignite a curiosity in my readers to want to check back for the next post. My desire is that you obtain valuable Mind, Body, and, SPIRIT Information that you may have not come across in your daily life.

For most of my adult life, Nutrition for the body has been a favorite topic of research; however, through the years, I have come to realize that it is not just the body, but the whole. There is a mind body connection, that cannot be denied; therefore, I believe that food is not the only requirement for optimal health, but optimistic thoughts, exercise, friendships, and having a purpose; moreover, is our capacity to LOVE, which brings me to my first and I feel most significant topic, as well as favorite word of expression.

LOVE- What is Love? Like the Beatles said in the 60’s…..”All We Need is LOVE and isn’t that the truth? I believe with LOVE anything is possible. It is the strongest energy force in the universe, after all…weren’t we created from LOVE?

I think our capacity to LOVE and receive LOVE is measured, by the amount of LOVE we give ourselves; therefore, I think, for us to have a better tomorrow, we need to LOVE ourselves today..

Powerful words, such as LOVE and JOY releases amazing vital chemicals that keep you healthy and happy. Here in lies the Mind, body connection, that can fuel the greatest energy in the world.

I ask that you do this:

LOVE who you are today!
LOVE your body today!
LOVE where you are today!
LOVE what you are today!
LOVE what you do today!
LOVE all and everything that you possible can!
LOVE your abundance today, and be Grateful for all the LOVE in your life.

I believe, taking the advice to “Love Ourselves, as we Love others” will cause a boomerang effect that will create an eternal flame of LOVE in us that will never burn out.

While I could expound on this topic forever, I think the following...my favorite passage… says it all:

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (New International Version)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

Did you know that your one act of kindness, not only releases feel good chemicals in you, but also in any who observe the act of kindness. Put yourself… as well as…others on a natural high today!

“I LOVE THEREFORE I AM”

In closing, I want to thank you for reading, and creating a ripple effect of LOVE around the world.
In LOVE and LIGHT,

Joyful Energy
